Boston Legacy Unveil Super Falcons Striker Gift Monday

American women’s football club Boston Legacy FC have unveiled Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Gift Monday, following her move from fellow National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit.

The 24-year-old joined Boston Legacy in a trade announced on October 8, with Washington Spirit receiving $500,000 in transfer threshold funds for the Nigerian international.

Monday arrives at the Boston-based club with considerable experience in American and European football, having represented Washington Spirit and Spanish side UD Tenerife before the latest move.

During her spell with Washington Spirit, the forward made 48 regular-season appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.

She also made history in September 2025 when she scored three goals in 35 minutes and 52 seconds against Houston Dash, recording the fastest hat-trick from kick-off in NWSL history.

Before moving to Europe, Monday featured for Nigerian clubs FC Robo and COD United Amazons. She subsequently spent two and a half seasons with UD Tenerife, making more than 65 appearances and contributing 26 goals and assists.

At international level, the striker made her senior debut for Nigeria in 2019 and was part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Speaking on her arrival, Monday expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter with Boston Legacy.

“I’m very happy and honoured to be here today as I officially join this wonderful club,” she said.

Boston Legacy general manager, Domè Guasch, said the Nigerian would bring additional attacking qualities to the team, highlighting her pressing ability, creativity and threat in the final third.

“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack,” Guasch said.

He added that her teamwork and attacking attributes would be valuable to the club as it continued to strengthen its squad.

The move presents Monday with an opportunity to establish herself further in the American women’s game as Boston Legacy seek to improve their attacking options.
