The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Anambra State to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kalu made the call during a solidarity rally organised by the Tinubu Support Group in Awka, the Anambra State capital, in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The rally came barely 24 hours after President Tinubu inaugurated the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, formally setting the party’s campaign machinery in motion. The inauguration was part of the APC’s preparations for the forthcoming polls.

Kalu, who serves as Deputy Director-General (South II) of the Presidential Campaign Council, urged party members and supporters to sustain their engagement and strengthen political structures across the South-East.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, the Deputy Speaker said the task ahead was to take the Renewed Hope message to communities across the country and mobilise support around the administration’s vision for national development.

He also stressed the need to consolidate grassroots networks and maintain active participation as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the rally formed part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s presence in the South-East and build support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

Kalu expressed confidence in the party’s mobilisation efforts, saying the focus remained on consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda and securing support for the President in the next general election.

His participation in the Anambra rally followed his appointment to a leadership position within the Presidential Campaign Council, placing him among the party officials tasked with coordinating campaign activities in their respective regions.

The development also highlights the APC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures in the South-East as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

With political parties and support groups beginning to intensify their activities ahead of the polls, the region is expected to remain an important area of political engagement for the APC.
