The Executive Chairman of Ukwa East Local Government Area, Hon. Chibunna Akara, has formally expressed his profound appreciation to Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, following the governor’s recent visit to Ndoki land.

In an official statement, Chairman Akara, joined by his wife, Mrs. Favour Akara, lauded the governor for his “unwavering commitment to the progress and development of Ukwa East.”

A central point of the chairman’s message was Governor Otti’s pledge to address the “perennial issue of blackout” that has long affected the locality.

NATIONAL CONCORD recalls Governor Otti announced on Thursday that, electric power which has eluded the entire Ndoki land for more than 2 decades, would be fully restored by the end of March, 2026.

“If we could give power to not just Ukwa West, but Etche, which is not part of Abia State, we have no choice but to give you power.

“I understand you already have power drawn here, so you probably require transformers and a smart metering system. If that is what is required, you can take it from me that before the end of March, you will have power here,” Gov. Otti stated.

The Mayor hailed this as a clear sign of the governor’s dedication to the welfare of the people and expressed strong optimism in his leadership to deliver transformative results.

“We are deeply indebted to Your Excellency for your promise to resolve the perennial issue of blackout in our locality, We are confident that your promise-keeping leadership will bring about transformative change to our community.” -the chairman’s statement read.

The chairman also extended his heartfelt thanks to the citizens of Ukwa East, acknowledging the massive and supportive turnout that welcomed the governor. He specifically recognized the contributions of political leaders, traditional rulers, spiritual fathers, youth and women leaders, and student organizations for their solidarity.

Looking forward, Hon. Akara reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to working closely with the state government to ensure the “isolation and neglect suffered by Ukwa East under the previous administration are not perpetuated.”

He concluded by calling on all citizens to support Governor Otti’s administration and to engage in the democratic process by securing their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) for the 2027 election.
