Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has spoken out against what he described as unfair and deliberate attempts to make him the scapegoat for every challenge confronting the state. According to him, while critics continue to heap blame on his shoulders, the achievements recorded under his administration remain visible and undeniable.

Ikpeazu made the remarks while hosting selected leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Abia South zone at his Umuobiakwa country home. Addressing party faithful, he stressed the importance of loyalty and steadfastness, noting that commitment to the PDP remains the ultimate sacrifice expected from members. He insisted that “naysayers” and “noise makers” were deliberately downplaying his developmental strides. “If somebody’s pot of soup sours, they will still blame Okezie Ikpeazu,” he said, describing the criticisms as misplaced.
The former governor urged PDP leaders across the state to focus on strengthening party structures through regular meetings and collective engagement. According to him, unity and loyalty will be decisive in ensuring the party regains its dominance both in Abia and at the national level. He assured that no external force could defeat a united PDP.
Backing Ikpeazu’s position, the PDP Vice Chairman for Abia South, Enyinnaya Appolos, commended the former governor for his guidance and leadership. He described the meeting as an avenue for leaders to share ideas and strategies that would keep the PDP strong in the state. Appolos further called on stakeholders to remain committed, stressing that collective effort and loyalty would guarantee the party’s sustained relevance in Abia politics.
