Enyimba International got their first win of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season with a narrow 1–0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
A first-half strike from Abiodun Joseph proved decisive, sealing all three points for the People’s Elephant in their second league outing of the campaign.
Tornadoes’ head coach, Majin Mohammed, rued missed opportunities after the game, insisting his side could have left Aba with a better result.
“It was a very good match. Both teams showed their intent to win, We started brightly and created clear chances, but we failed to convert them. Enyimba had only one real opportunity, and they made it count.” Mohammed said.
On the other hand, Enyimba’s manager Stanley Eguma expressed satisfaction with his players’ mentality but acknowledged that his squad is still a work in progress.
“This is a new beginning for us, We have a lot of new players and the team is still gelling. The important thing is to show commitment and attitude so that our fans can see we are ready this season” Eguma said.
Ufere Chinedu the captain said there was no pressure on him to deliver but insisted that the players already the task ahead and must live upto expectation.

Looking ahead, Niger Tornadoes will face Bayelsa United next Sunday, September 7, while Enyimba travel to Lafia to take on Nasarawa United on the same day.
