The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Mr. Matthew Kolawale Owoade, the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Budo Aare, Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state.

According to police authorities, the 60-year-old educator was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Saturday evening while returning from his farm. The assailants reportedly intercepted him between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. before taking him to an unknown destination.

Family members disclosed that the abductors later established contact and demanded a ₦30 million ransom for his release, heightening anxiety among relatives and residents of the community.

The Police Command confirmed the incident and said an investigation has commenced, while tactical teams have been deployed to track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s safe rescue. Residents have also been urged to provide any useful information that could assist the ongoing operation.

The latest abduction comes only days after the successful rescue of pupils and teachers who had been held captive in Oriire Local Government Area, raising fresh concerns over the security situation in parts of Oyo State.

Security agencies have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to rescue the headmaster unharmed and bring those responsible for the kidnapping to justice.
