Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have reportedly arrested a former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, at a hotel in Abuja over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

SaharaReporters reported that Okorocha was taken into custody on Monday night at the REIZ Continental Hotel in the Federal Capital Territory.

The report, citing security sources, said the arrest followed the former governor’s alleged failure to honour repeated police invitations to appear for questioning at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the sources, Okorocha was initially invited for questioning on September 2, 2026, but the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 following a request from his legal team.

The sources claimed that the former governor failed to appear on the rescheduled date, prompting the police to obtain a bench warrant to compel his appearance.

The report added that Okorocha remained in police custody as of the time of filing, while investigations into the allegations continued.

Efforts to obtain comments from the former governor’s media office were reportedly unsuccessful.

The allegations against Okorocha remain subject to investigation and judicial determination.
