The Traditional Ruler of Umudiawa Autonomous Community, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, has dismissed his suspension by the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, calling it baseless and unjustified.
Speaking to journalists at his palace in Umudiawa, Eze Ofoegbu said his only “offence” was presenting an award to President Bola Tinubu through the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in recognition of the president’s developmental efforts in the South East.
Ofoegbu, who also serves as Chairman of the Ndigbo Progressives Traditional Rulers Forum, defended the award, stating it falls within the forum’s mandate to encourage the president to do more for the region.
He further criticized the Abia State government for failing to remit the constitutionally mandated 5% of local government funds to traditional institutions, a move he says hampers their ability to address pressing issues like community security.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Linus Mba, maintained that Ofoegbu’s suspension was due to alleged insubordination.
