Bola Tinubu

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered intensified military action against террорист elements following fresh casualties recorded among troops in the North East.

The directive came after soldiers of Sector 3, Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, came under what authorities described as an isolated terrorist attack at a military location in Monguno, Borno State.

According to military sources, the attack occurred late on April 12, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire between troops and insurgents. The soldiers were able to repel the assault and retain control of the area, forcing the attackers to retreat.

Despite the successful defence, the incident resulted in casualties among military personnel, underscoring the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups operating in the region.

Reacting to the development, the Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups, insisting that there is no general breakdown of law and order across the country. Information Minister Mohammed Idris noted that while isolated security challenges remain, most parts of Nigeria are stable.

The latest directive by the President signals a renewed push to strengthen ongoing counter insurgency operations, particularly in the North East where troops have continued to engage extremist factions.

Security analysts say the development highlights the evolving tactics of insurgents, who increasingly launch targeted attacks on military formations despite sustained offensives by government forces.

The renewed military posture is expected to involve intensified operations, improved intelligence coordination, and reinforcement of frontline troops as authorities seek to curb further attacks and stabilise affected regions.
