Bayer Leverkusen

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has described the last year of his career as a “crazy season” after officially confirming his return to Bayer Leverkusen following the expiration of his loan spell at Werder Bremen.

The Nigerian forward made the remarks while reflecting on a turbulent campaign marked by injuries, fitness concerns and uncertainty over his future.

Boniface, who spent the season on loan at Bremen in search of regular playing time, said the experience tested him mentally and physically but also helped him grow as a player.

The 25-year-old striker is now expected to rejoin Leverkusen ahead of the new Bundesliga season as the club begins preparations for another domestic and European campaign.

Despite the challenges of the past season, Boniface remains one of Nigeria’s most highly rated attacking talents and is expected to play a major role for both club and country in the coming months.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise forward enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Leverkusen before injuries disrupted his momentum, but the club is believed to still value his long-term importance within the squad.

Boniface’s return comes as Leverkusen continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new season following another strong showing in German football.
