Tinubu vows to defeat insecurity, lauds Abiodun over Gateway Airport

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat insecurity in Nigeria, pledging that the country will overcome banditry and terrorism.

The president gave the assurance on Saturday during the inauguration of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, where he also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for delivering what he described as a landmark infrastructure project.

Tinubu said his government remained resolute in protecting lives and property, stressing that ongoing investments in security and infrastructure were part of a broader strategy to stabilise the country and drive long-term growth.

“We will win over banditry and terrorism,” the president said, expressing confidence that Nigeria is on a path to renewed stability and progress.

He also highlighted the significance of the airport project, noting that it is equipped with independent power supply and designed to boost economic activity, improve connectivity and attract investment to the region.

Tinubu praised Abiodun’s development initiatives, including investments in mobility, agriculture and security, describing them as aligned with the federal government’s broader economic agenda.

The event also featured the commissioning of additional projects, including security vehicles and electric bikes, which the president said reflect a forward-looking approach to transportation and public safety.

The inauguration comes at a time of heightened concern over insecurity in parts of the country, with recent attacks in Plateau State underscoring the urgency of sustained government intervention.

Tinubu’s remarks, therefore, serve as both reassurance and a renewed pledge of action, as his administration faces mounting pressure to deliver tangible improvements in national security while advancing infrastructure development.
