Tottenham Hotspur have reported incidents of racist abuse targeting defender Kevin Danso to the police following their English Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The abuse occurred after Tottenham’s 2–2 draw with Brighton, where Danso was involved in the build-up to a late equaliser. The Austrian international subsequently became the target of what the club described as “vile, dehumanising racism” on social media.
In a strongly worded statement, Tottenham confirmed that all identified abusive content has been reported to the Metropolitan Police and relevant authorities, as well as social media platforms, with a commitment to pursue the harshest possible sanctions against offenders.
The club stressed that racism constitutes a criminal offence and cannot be justified under any circumstance, including a player’s performance on the pitch.

Danso also responded publicly, condemning the abuse and reaffirming his focus on the game, stating that such attacks “have no place in football or anywhere.”
The incident occurred during the Premier League’s anti-discrimination campaign, further highlighting ongoing concerns about racism in football despite sustained efforts to combat it.
Tottenham reiterated their full support for the player and urged authorities and social media companies to take decisive action in tackling online abuse.
