Enyimba FC delivered a dominant performance to defeat Abia Comets 4–1 in the semi-final of the Abia State Federation Cup, played at the Enyimba Stadium on Thursday.
The nine-time Nigerian champions wasted no time asserting their authority, taking the lead in the 12th minute through Nelson Sule. The forward capitalised on a well-delivered pass from Ukadike Miracle, finding himself unmarked before calmly finishing. Sule doubled Enyimba’s advantage in the 35th minute, this time converting a precise assist from Odinaka Obichere to make it 2–0 at the break.
Abia Comets showed some resilience after the restart and reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute when Maduka Okechukwu rose highest to head home from a corner kick. However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Samuel Okechukwu restored Enyimba’s two-goal cushion in the 70th minute with a superb curling effort that beat goalkeeper Victor Ogbonna.
Sule then capped off an outstanding individual display by completing his hat-trick ten minutes later, rounding the goalkeeper before slotting home to seal a comprehensive 4–1 victory.
The result sends Enyimba into the final, where they will face Ahudiyannem in a repeat of the 2025 decider, with the showdown set to take place on Sunday at the Enyimba Stadium.
