Chief Eric Ikwuagwu, the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, has officially resigned his membership of the party.

In a resignation letter dated January 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Isuamawu Ward, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Ikwuagwu described his decision as difficult but unavoidable.

He said the PDP had been central to his political journey, noting that the party had shaped his political identity and was deeply ingrained in his life. According to him, his commitment to the party went beyond convenience, even during challenging periods.

Ikwuagwu explained that despite experiencing misgivings, internal challenges, and personal mistreatment, he remained loyal and consistently defended the party. He added that he played an active role in sustaining the PDP, especially in the aftermath of its defeat in the 2023 general elections, when many members distanced themselves from the party.

The former spokesperson did not immediately disclose his next political move or whether he plans to join another party.

His resignation marks another significant development within the Abia PDP as the party continues to grapple with internal realignments ahead of future elections.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
