Security operatives have arrested seven suspects in connection with the recent abduction of passengers in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the police spokesperson, Udeme Edet, who said the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations by security agencies.

The incident occurred on April 15 when gunmen attacked a commercial bus operated by Benue Links along the Otukpo route, robbing passengers before abducting several of them into the bush.

Police said some of the victims have since been rescued and are currently receiving medical attention, although the exact number was not disclosed.

According to the authorities, the suspects are now in custody as investigations continue, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network and secure the release of remaining victims.

The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Nigeria, particularly incidents involving kidnappings along major highways, which have continued to pose risks to commuters.

Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring the public that those responsible for the attack will be brought to justice.
