A fatal accident involving a bus belonging to Ebonyi State Transport Corporation occurred this afternoon along the Port Harcourt-Enugu Expressway, near Ohiya Mechanic Village in Umuahia, ABN TV reports.
Eyewitnesses report that the ill-fated bus somersaulted multiple times—over four times—before coming to a stop, leading to the tragic loss of five lives. Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest that the driver, who only suffered minor injuries, may have dozed off while driving, resulting in the crash.

Survivors of the accident are currently receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the FMC morgue.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the cause of the accident.
