Funeral ceremonies for the late United States Senator Lindsey Graham will begin on Tuesday, July 28, in Washington, D.C., before continuing in his home state of South Carolina.
According to the announced schedule, the Washington events will mark the beginning of a series of memorial activities honouring the longtime South Carolina senator’s decades of public service.
Additional ceremonies will take place on July 29 in Columbia and Pickens County, South Carolina, where family members, friends, political leaders and members of the public are expected to pay their final respects.
The memorial events are expected to attract current and former government officials, lawmakers and other dignitaries from across the United States in recognition of Graham’s long career in public office.
Graham served as a United States senator representing South Carolina for more than two decades, earning national prominence through his work on defence, foreign policy and judicial matters. Throughout his political career, he remained one of the most influential Republican voices in the Senate.
