man city v brentford

Manchester City boosted their Premier League title hopes after a convincing 3-0 victory over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

After a frustrating first half, City found the breakthrough in the 60th minute through Jeremy Doku, whose curling effort finally broke Brentford’s resistance.

Erling Haaland doubled the advantage shortly after with his 26th Premier League goal of the season before setting up Omar Marmoush for the third goal deep into stoppage time.

The result moved City within two points of league leaders Arsenal with three matches remaining in the title race.

Pep Guardiola’s men dominated proceedings, recording 25 shots compared to Brentford’s four, while Doku was widely praised for another standout display.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola admitted City no longer control the title race but insisted his side must continue winning and hope Arsenal slip up in their remaining fixtures.

Brentford manager Keith Andrews, however, expressed frustration over several refereeing decisions during the encounter, including appeals for a penalty and a possible red card incident involving City defender Matheus Nunes.

City will now turn attention to their next league fixture against Crystal Palace as the race for the Premier League crown enters a decisive stage.
