Minister of Works, David Umahi, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, stating that after God, the President holds his utmost allegiance.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on Monday, Umahi was responding to President Tinubu’s recent commendation of his contributions to national infrastructure development. He described the praise as deeply meaningful and indicative that his efforts are aligned with divine purpose.
“I have publicly stated that my loyalty is first to God, and then to President Tinubu,” Umahi said. “When someone places such significant trust in you, as the President has in me, it would be not only morally wrong but spiritually damaging to betray that trust.”
The Minister emphasized that betraying the confidence placed in him by President Tinubu would, in his view, invoke divine disapproval.
“Consider a scenario where a person manages a project worth ₦1.6 trillion, and the President does not once interfere or question their decisions — that speaks volumes about trust,” he said. “I pray daily that I never prioritize myself, my family, or associates above God, President Tinubu, or the Nigerian people. If I do, may God withhold answers to my prayers.”

Umahi further expressed gratitude to those who support and pray for his success, extending his appreciation to contractors and stakeholders working on key infrastructure projects across the country.
He noted that approximately 30 major projects are currently underway and are scheduled for commissioning by December 20, 2025.
“I remain fully engaged with the supervision and delivery of critical infrastructure projects across all six geopolitical zones,” Umahi added.
