Residents of Aba metropolis have been experiencing power outages from 9 AM to 5 PM due to an ongoing one-week maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Abia State.
However, Aba Power Distribution Company has assured residents that efforts are underway to restore electricity to most affected areas by the end of today.
Edise Ekong, the Brand and Communication Manager of Aba Power, expressed frustration over the situation, stating that if the TCN had responded to their request for permission to supply electricity from the 188MW Geometric Power Plant in Osisioma, the severity of the outage in areas such as Opobo Road, Obingwa, Ikot Ekpene Road, Ukwa West and East, among others, could have been mitigated.
Other affected areas include Aba City Centre, Ogbor Hill, Isiala Ngwa, Waterside, Umuode, and Ugwunagbo.

Aba Power has apologized to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the delay in communication between TCN and the company, especially during the current hot weather.
