Nigeria Premier Football League side Kun Khalifat FC has called on league authorities to improve security for visiting teams after alleging that its head coach, Obinna Uzoho, was attacked following a 1-1 draw against Doma United in Gombe State.
The Owerri-based club raised the alarm in posts on its official social media accounts on Sunday, October 18, 2026, sharing a video showing Uzoho with visible injuries to his face.
According to the club, the alleged incident occurred after Saturday’s league encounter, in which Kun Khalifat held their hosts to a draw.
Kun Khalifat expressed concern over the safety of players and officials during away fixtures, alleging that visiting teams face security risks when they secure a victory or draw against home sides.
In a statement shared alongside the video, the club said, “When we lose at home we lose in peace. But whenever we win away or pick a point against the home team, our lives will be in the hands of God.”
The club described the alleged attack as unacceptable and urged the Nigeria Premier Football League to take urgent measures to protect players, coaches and other officials during league matches.
“This is so, so unacceptable. Again, we can’t continue like this,” the club added.
It further appealed directly to the league authorities, stating, “#NPFL Please protect our lives.”
The incident reportedly followed Saturday’s match at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, where both sides shared the points after a 1-1 draw.
Kun Khalifat took the lead in the second half before Doma United equalised through Tijani Azeez, leaving both teams with a point each.
The allegations have renewed concerns about crowd control, matchday security and the safety of visiting teams in Nigerian domestic football.
As of Sunday, there was no official statement from either the NPFL or Doma United responding to Kun Khalifat’s allegations, according to Sahara Reporters.
