President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally received the 24 schoolgirls recently rescued in Kebbi State, expressing relief over their safe return and reaffirming his administration’s resolve to curb the rising cases of school abductions.
During the reception, the President commended the security agencies and all stakeholders involved in securing the girls’ release. He noted that safeguarding students across the country remains a top national priority.
Tinubu said he was grateful that all the abducted children were recovered alive, stressing that the incident underscores the urgent need for stronger and more coordinated security operations, particularly in communities prone to attacks and kidnappings.
He urged security agencies to intensify their presence in high-risk areas and adopt proactive strategies to prevent similar incidents. Increased personnel deployment, he said, will play a critical role in deterring criminal groups targeting schools and vulnerable rural communities.
The President further assured families and Nigerians at large that his administration will continue to provide all necessary support to security forces, especially in ongoing efforts to rescue those still in captivity. He reiterated that ensuring the safety of children and restoring peace remain central to his government’s agenda.
