The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly denied reports alleging he allocated over 2,000 hectares of land in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts to his son.
The online report, which claimed that 2,082 hectares were secretly awarded through a Right of Occupancy issued to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, suggested that the allocation purportedly for agricultural use was a front for personal enrichment.

In a swift reaction, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, dismissed the claims as baseless and malicious. He described the report as “another falsehood” propagated by individuals intent on smearing the Minister’s reputation.
Olayinka questioned the logic behind the story, stressing that not even a single plot had been allocated to any of Wike’s children and challenging the feasibility of finding such vast land within the densely developed districts.
Clarifying the status of JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, Olayinka noted the company was duly registered and legitimately received an agricultural land allocation in Bwari Area Council not in Maitama or Asokoro.

He emphasized that ownership of land by Wike or his family, under lawful procedures, is a constitutional right. He urged the public to disregard the publication, describing it as a smear campaign lacking journalistic credibility.
