Suspected terrorists have launched a deadly attack on a military base in Kwara State, killing at least three soldiers and injuring several others in a pre-dawn raid.
The assault, which occurred around 3 a.m. in Kemanji village within Kaiama Local Government Area, is believed to have been carried out by fighters linked to the Ansaru group, a faction associated with extremist insurgency in Nigeria.
According to local sources and security operatives, the attackers stormed the military camp and opened fire on troops, leading to casualties that included both soldiers and a local vigilante member.
During the raid, the gunmen reportedly looted military assets, making away with at least eight operational motorcycles and a gun truck, further highlighting the scale and coordination of the attack.

However, reports indicate that security forces mounted resistance, with several of the attackers said to have been neutralised during the confrontation.
The latest incident adds to growing security concerns in the Kaiama axis and surrounding areas near the Kainji National Park, which has increasingly been identified as a hideout for armed groups operating in the region.
Security analysts warn that the spread of extremist activity into parts of North-Central Nigeria signals a dangerous expansion of insurgent networks beyond their traditional strongholds in the North-East.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the attack, but the development is expected to intensify calls for stronger military presence and improved intelligence operations in vulnerable communities.
