Police officer on a misconduct at Uturu video

The Abia State Police Command has arrested police officers identified in a viral social media video showing acts of misconduct in Uturu, Abia State, and ordered their investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

The Command confirmed the development in a press statement issued on Sunday, May 9, 2026, acknowledging awareness of the trending footage which had sparked widespread public anger across social media platforms.

According to the statement, the Command moved swiftly once the video surfaced. The complainant was contacted, and the officers involved were identified, traced, and promptly arrested.

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, has since ordered that the arrested officers be subjected to full investigation at the SCID for appropriate administrative action. The Command said the public would be updated on the outcome of the police action.

CP Isa used the statement to reaffirm the Command’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and civil conduct in the discharge of its lawful duties. He warned that impunity and all forms of misconduct would no longer be tolerated, stating that the directive aligned with the Inspector General of Police’s mandate to build a human rights-compliant and citizen-friendly police force across Nigeria.

The statement was signed by DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
