Several banks, including Guaranty Trust Bank Limited, have notified their customers of the change via email. In its message titled “Increase in SMS Transaction Alert Fee,” GTBank explained that the new fee reflects the revised telecom tariffs. T

he bank emphasized the importance of SMS alerts for monitoring account activity and added that higher rates may apply to messages sent to international phone numbers.
