Ali Bukar Dalori has officially assumed office as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje. The former Kano governor stepped down on Friday to attend to pressing personal matters, a decision confirmed by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday.
During the NWC meeting, APC National Secretary Suraj Ajibola presented Ganduje’s resignation letter and moved the motion for Dalori’s appointment, in accordance with Article 14 of the party’s constitution.

In his first address as acting chairman, Dalori expressed humility and a strong sense of responsibility, pledging full loyalty to President Bola Tinubu. He praised Ganduje’s leadership since assuming office in August 2023 and wished him a full recovery.
“This is a time for consolidation, not conflict; for unity, not division,” Dalori said. He emphasized the need for early preparation for the 2027 general elections and the strengthening of the party’s internal structures.

He also reaffirmed APC’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a vital roadmap to tackling national challenges in security, the economy, and unity. Dalori urged party members to remain united and promised to unveil a strategic plan to guide the party during the interim leadership period.
