The Enugu State Government has commenced the recruitment of about 6,500 teachers, technical personnel, and administrative staff to strengthen manpower in its 267 Smart Green Schools and other public primary and secondary schools across the state.

The recruitment exercise is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s ongoing education reform programme aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning while ensuring that the state’s Smart Green Schools are adequately staffed with qualified professionals.

Announcing the exercise, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Prof. Hyginus Okibe, said vacancies are available in academic, technical, and administrative positions across the state’s public school system.

According to him, applicants seeking teaching positions must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.), a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant discipline with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant subject area.

He added that candidates must provide evidence of registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or proof that the registration process is ongoing.

Applicants with Degree or HND qualifications are also required to present valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificates. In addition, proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is compulsory for applicants across all cadres, reflecting the technology-driven nature of the Smart Green Schools initiative.

The state government also announced vacancies for candidates with OND and SSCE/WASSCE qualifications to fill suitable non-teaching and administrative positions within the public school system.

Interested applicants are expected to submit a formal application letter, curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, and other relevant documents. Applications can be submitted either physically at the ENSUBEB office or electronically through the designated application channel.

The government fixed Friday, August 14, 2026, as the deadline for submission of applications and urged qualified candidates to apply before the closing date.

The recruitment exercise is expected to boost employment opportunities in Enugu State while providing the skilled workforce required to drive the Smart Green Schools initiative, which is designed to deliver technology-enabled education and improve learning outcomes across the state.
