The Media Team of Hon. Ceekay Igara, Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia State, has disowned T-shirts bearing the inscription “Ceekay for Otti Sustenance 2027,” describing them as false, misleading and the handiwork of mischief makers.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the campaign team said its attention had been drawn to the circulation of the T-shirts in parts of Abia State, including Okamu Ward, Ada Ujureze Junction in Ebem Oha Ward, Ohafia Local Government Area, Umuahia and other locations.
The campaign organisation said it would ordinarily have ignored what it described as a desperate act but considered it necessary to set the record straight to prevent members of the public from being misled.
The campaign team categorically stated that Hon. Ceekay Igara has no political alignment or partnership with Governor Alex Otti and dismissed any suggestion to the contrary as false.
According to the statement, the campaign organization remains committed to the principles of truth, justice and integrity, insisting that any attempt to associate its candidate with political interests outside his convictions is a deliberate act of misinformation.
It further questioned the motive behind the circulation of the T-shirts, noting that those allegedly responsible had previously dismissed the movement as politically insignificant.
The campaign team condemned the alleged impersonation and warned those behind the production and circulation of the branded materials to desist immediately or face legal consequences for what it described as brand impersonation and deliberate attempts to mislead the public.
Reaffirming confidence in its candidate, the campaign organization described Hon. Ceekay Igara as a man of proven integrity and impeccable character who remains committed to his political ideals and convictions.
It also urged supporters across Abia State to remain calm, focused and undistracted by what it termed acts of political deception and sabotage, assuring them that the movement would remain steadfast in pursuing its vision for the state.
The statement was signed by the Media Team, Hon. Ceekay Igara, David of Abia Campaign Organisation.
