A socio-cultural organisation, Ohafia Think Home, has announced plans to honour distinguished fallen heroes from the 26 communities of Ohafia in Abia State. The remembrance and celebration ceremony is scheduled to hold on December 14, 2026, at the Bluespring Hotel and Resort in Ebem Ohafia, as part of efforts to recognise individuals who made significant contributions to community growth and development.
The initiative, themed “Honouring Our Heroes, Inspiring Our Future,” is designed to spotlight one notable hero from each community. The programme forms part of an advocacy campaign known as “Okuko Kpara Lua Ulue,” which translates to “Bring Home Your Wealth for Development,” aimed at encouraging indigenes to invest resources and expertise in community advancement.

Coordinator of the group and media expert, Stanley Mba, disclosed that the programme is the brainchild of philanthropist and founder of the initiative, Chief Chukwudi Kalu Agbara, Agumba I of Ohafia. According to Mba, the event is intended to appreciate the legacies of individuals whose sacrifices and leadership helped shape the progress of Ohafia communities and inspire present generations to emulate their values.
Mba revealed that 22 communities had already submitted the names of their nominated heroes, with additional submissions expected before the event. He also commended traditional rulers across the communities for their support and warm reception during consultation visits by members of the organising committee.

The ceremony is expected to attract prominent dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, who is billed to attend as Chief Guest of Honour. The event will be chaired by the Director-General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum, while traditional rulers led by the Royal Paramount Ruler of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom are also expected to participate.
Other notable guests expected at the ceremony include political leaders, community stakeholders, and members of the Ohafia Improvement Union worldwide. The programme will also feature a keynote address by the union’s President General and tributes from families of the honoured heroes. Organisers say the event aims to reinforce cultural pride, strengthen communal unity, and promote sustained development across Ohafia communities.
