The 2026 Abia State FA Cup reached its thrilling conclusion on Sunday at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, with Ahudiyannem Queens successfully defending their women’s title and Enyimba FC delivering a dominant performance to claim the men’s crown.
The day’s action began with the women’s final, where Ahudiyannem Queens once again overcame Abia Angels—repeating last year’s fixture—with a convincing 2–0 victory. Grace Aroan opened the scoring early in the 13th minute, setting the tone for the defending champions. Lucky Mary sealed the win in the 61st minute, ensuring Ahudiyannem Queens retained their title in style.
Attention then shifted to the men’s final, where Enyimba FC were determined to avenge their defeat to Ahudiyannem FC in the previous edition. The Aba giants delivered emphatically, cruising to a commanding 4–0 victory.
Enyimba took the lead in the 20th minute when captain Chinedu Ufere threaded a precise pass to Wonnar Williams, who finished clinically to put his side ahead going into the break. Ahudiyannem FC had a golden opportunity to equalize after Agu Samuel’s challenge on Henry Ibeh resulted in a penalty, but Eburibe Ndubisi struck the woodwork, missing the chance to level the score.
Enyimba capitalized on that miss, with Wonnar Williams doubling the lead in the 55th minute. The game was effectively put beyond reach in the 71st minute when substitute Samuel Okechukwu was fouled in the box, earning a penalty which he calmly converted to make it 3–0. Joel Ezra added further gloss to the scoreline in the 88th minute with a well-taken low drive, sealing a comprehensive victory for the “People’s Elephant” and sparking celebrations among their supporters.
Following the tournament, Enyimba FC and Ahudiyannem FC will represent Abia State in the men’s category of the upcoming President Federation Cup, while Ahudiyannem Queens and Abia Angels will compete in the women’s category.
