Several Feared Dead as Violent Thugs Attack Residents in Kano, Fagge LGA Imposes Curfew

Several people have reportedly lost their lives following renewed violent clashes involving rival groups of thugs in Kano State, forcing the Fagge Local Government Area to impose an emergency nighttime curfew in affected communities.

The curfew was announced after a series of attacks and violent confrontations allegedly carried out by armed youths in parts of the local government area. Authorities said the clashes created widespread panic among residents and disrupted normal activities within the affected neighborhoods.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the council, Tasi’u Yahaya-Dadinduniya, the chairman of Fagge Local Government, Alhaji Salisu Usman-Masu, said the decision followed an emergency security meeting with community stakeholders and local leaders.

According to the directive, movement has now been restricted between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily in Fagge D1 and Fagge D2 wards until further notice. Officials said the measure became necessary to prevent additional violence and restore public order in the area.

“The measure follows recent clashes among youths in the area that have resulted in loss of lives,” the council stated while urging residents to cooperate fully with security agencies enforcing the restriction.

Local authorities also warned that anyone found violating the curfew order would face arrest and possible prosecution. Security personnel have reportedly been deployed across strategic areas to monitor compliance and prevent fresh attacks.

The latest violence adds to growing concerns over recurring gang-related clashes and insecurity in parts of Kano State, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger policing and youth intervention programmes to address rising criminal activities.

Community leaders have meanwhile appealed for calm, urging young people involved in the unrest to embrace dialogue and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions further. Authorities say discussions with stakeholders are ongoing as efforts continue to restore peace to the troubled communities.
