The Abia State Government has assured residents, businesses and electricity consumers within the Aba Ring-Fenced Area that efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing disruption in power supply.
The government attributed the current power outage primarily to challenges associated with gas supply to the Geometric Power Plant, which supplies electricity to the Aba Ring-Fenced Area.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, the state government acknowledged the hardship and economic inconvenience caused by the disruption, particularly to households, commercial establishments and industries that depend on stable electricity for their daily operations.
The government also expressed appreciation to electricity consumers across the Aba Ring-Fenced Area for their patience and understanding while efforts are being made to resolve the situation.
According to the statement, Governor Alex Chioma Otti has directed the Ministry of Power and Public Utilities to work closely with Geometric Power/Aba Power Limited and other critical stakeholders to facilitate the restoration of normal electricity supply.
The ministry is expected to continue engaging relevant stakeholders and exploring interventions aimed at expediting the restoration process.
The state government further assured residents that the public would be kept informed of developments as discussions and interventions concerning the power situation progress.
It reiterated its commitment to providing reliable and sustainable electricity to residents of Abia State, while thanking Ndi Abia for their cooperation and resilience during the disruption.
