Chinedu Nsofor, a former Special Assistant to the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Anambra South Senatorial seat in the upcoming election.
Nsofor, who currently serves as the National Coordinator of the Igbo Heroes Foundation (IHF), made the announcement in Owerri while addressing journalists. He is running under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Promising to follow in the footsteps of the late Igbo statesman, Nsofor pledged to offer quality, people-oriented representation if elected, with a legislative focus on economic reforms, grassroots development, and improved standards of living.

“It is with profound humility and unwavering faith in God that I declare my intention to serve as Senator for Anambra South Senatorial District,” he said. “Inspired by divine intervention, I step forward to harness our collective blessings, talents, and resources for the resurgence of our land and people.”
Touting his vast experience and track record of grassroots engagement, Nsofor stated that his candidacy represents a new wave of youthful, globally connected, and result-oriented leadership.
“What sets me apart is not just experience but the proven capacity to deliver. I come with a practical history of local transformation and a network of national and international partnerships to drive innovation, industrialization, and youth empowerment in Anambra South,” he noted.
Among his legislative priorities is the sponsorship of a Community Needs Assessment and Development Bill, which he said would institutionalize grassroots engagement in national development.
“This bill will launch a nationwide community needs assessment—starting with the 110 communities in Anambra South—ensuring that solutions come from the people themselves and are implemented through a National Community Solutions Fund,” he explained.
Nsofor also pledged to prioritize healthcare, education, and infrastructure, positioning Anambra South as a model for inclusive development in the country.

A native of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Nsofor is a seasoned technocrat, international development consultant, and grassroots mobilizer. He has held various high-level roles, including MD/CEO of the Work While in School Group, Country Director of RapidHeal International (Malaysia HQ), and Programmes Director at Asia Pacific Sports International.
His entry into the senatorial race is seen by observers as a bid to galvanize a new generation of progressive leadership in the Southeast.
