Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has called on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to increase federal revenue allocation to the state to support its development initiatives.
Governor Otti made the appeal on Sunday while receiving Mrs. Nkechi Otti, the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the RMAFC, who visited to present her findings following a familiarisation tour and stakeholder engagement across the state.
The governor emphasized that additional federal funding would enable Abia to execute critical projects, noting that his administration has demonstrated a high level of financial discipline, a quality reflected in the recent Debt Management Office (DMO) report, which showed significant debt reduction in the state.
“Anything you can do to help us increase our federal allocation will be greatly appreciated by both the government and people of Abia State,” Otti said. “We have a lot of critical projects to implement, and with increased funding, we can do much more.”
Governor Otti highlighted his administration’s prudent spending approach, which he credited for the state’s improved debt profile.

“We only spend when it is absolutely necessary and for the right reasons,” he said. “That discipline has made it possible for us to reduce debt and manage our resources responsibly.”
He expressed appreciation for the report presented by the RMAFC representative and assured her that it would be thoroughly reviewed.
