The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he will not reveal the details of the peace agreement reached between him and suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking during a media chat at his Abuja residence on Thursday, Wike emphasized that the key outcome is the restoration of peace in Rivers State.
“I’ll let people speculate. It’s not my concern. What matters is that peace has returned, If that’s not enough for some, there’s nothing more to say.” Wike stated.
He criticized those who had exploited the political crisis in Rivers State for personal gain, saying they are now unhappy with his reconciliation with Fubara.

The truce follows a meeting hosted by President Bola Tinubu last month, involving Wike, Fubara, and suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The meeting marked an end to a prolonged power struggle in the oil-rich state.
In March 2025, Tinubu had suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the state lawmakers amid escalating tensions. The crisis stemmed from a fallout between Wike and his political protégé, Fubara, over control of the state’s political structures. The conflict intensified when pro-Wike lawmakers, led by Martin Amaewhule, moved to impeach Fubara.

Following the suspensions, Tinubu appointed retired naval officer Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as the sole administrator of Rivers State to stabilize the situation.
