Ibere Monarchs Back Atuma, Charge Him to Promote Peace in Abia Central

Traditional rulers in Ibere Clan, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, have expressed support for the senatorial ambition of the All Progressives Congress candidate for Abia Central, Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma.

The traditional rulers hosted Atuma at the palace of the Chairman of the Ibere Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Eze Professor Samuel Ifenwata, at Inyila Ibere.

The meeting was attended by His Royal Majesty, Eze Stanley Ijegbu; Chief Ifeanyi Anyaegbu, popularly known as Austify; stakeholders and Presidents-General from communities across Ibere Clan, led by Chief Maxwell Otuonye.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Eze Ifenwata commended Atuma for what they described as his contributions to the development of Ikwuano over the years.

The monarchs expressed confidence in Atuma’s ability to represent Abia Central at the National Assembly if elected, while urging him to remain a bridge-builder and advocate for peace across Ikwuano and the senatorial district.

The traditional rulers also called on Atuma to sustain meaningful engagement with the people and use his political influence to promote development, unity and peaceful coexistence.

Responding, Atuma said his aspiration was anchored on his record of public service and what he described as his longstanding commitment to attracting projects, employment opportunities and human-capital development to his constituency.

The former federal lawmaker said he had continued to pursue interventions for his constituents even while out of elective office, adding that his experience in the House of Representatives had prepared him for the responsibilities of senatorial representation.

Atuma further told the gathering that, if elected to the Senate on the platform of the APC, he would leverage his relationship with the Federal Government to pursue projects and programmes targeted at Abia Central.

He also expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying an APC senator representing Abia Central would provide an avenue for closer engagement with the Federal Government.

The visit formed part of Atuma’s ongoing grassroots consultations and mobilisation across Abia Central ahead of the 2027 general elections. Recent reports indicate that he has held engagements with APC members, traditional institutions and community stakeholders across Ikwuano as part of the campaign process. (eNews.com.ng)
