Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was injured in a road accident Monday morning on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that left two people dead.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. near Makun in Ogun State when a Lexus SUV carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck. The vehicle, traveling as part of a two-car convoy, hit the truck just before Danco Filling Station in Makun, before the Sagamu Interchange.

Eyewitness Adeniyi Orojo, who participated in rescue efforts, reported that Joshua was seated in the rear of the vehicle with three other occupants. The boxer sustained minor injuries, while the front passenger and another occupant died at the scene. Joshua’s security detail was traveling in a second vehicle behind the Lexus.

Federal Road Safety Corps officials arrived minutes after the accident. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the collision. Attempts to reach TRACE Commandant Akinbiyi Babatunde for comment were unsuccessful.

The accident has sparked concern among fans on social media, with many expressing relief that Joshua survived.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
