A member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Sadisu Mahmud, popularly known as Mahmud Buba, has come under intense scrutiny following allegations that his official records contradict his publicly declared age.
The controversy erupted after the aspirant, who declared interest in contesting for the House of Representatives seat for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, reportedly claimed during media appearances and political engagements that he was 30 years old.
However, an investigation published by Peoples Gazette alleged that documents linked to the aspirant, including his birth certificate, National Identification Number (NIN) details and passport records, indicate that he was born on August 27, 2010 making him 15 years old in 2026.
According to the report, Mahmud Buba had earlier stated that he was born on August 2, 1995, hails from Sabon Gari in Zaria, Kaduna State, and previously worked as a driver before entering politics.

The matter gained widespread attention after the aspirant appeared before the APC screening committee in Abuja, where his youthful appearance sparked online debate about his eligibility to contest the 2027 election.
The report further alleged that records obtained from the National Identity Management Commission database and the Nigeria Immigration Service matched the 2010 birth date.
Under Section 65 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), candidates seeking election into the House of Representatives must be at least 25 years old. The allegation, if verified by relevant authorities, could raise constitutional questions about the aspirant’s eligibility.
Before the controversy emerged, Mahmud Buba had reportedly received public recognition from notable political figures, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, Godswill Akpabio and Shehu Sani.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the aspirant regarding the allegations surrounding his age and documentation.
