Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has received an Award of Excellence for transformational leadership and outstanding governance, with organisers commending his administration’s developmental strides across the state.

The award was presented by Enugu Media Village during its 2025/2026 Best Performing Local Government Chairman Poll and Leadership Recognition Ceremony held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu.

The recognition comes amid growing attention to the Mbah administration’s projects and reforms across critical sectors of the state. Organisers said the award was in recognition of what they described as the governor’s commitment to transforming communities and improving governance.

Presenting the award on behalf of the organisation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Enugu Media Village, Hon. Nnanna Nze, commended Governor Mbah for what he described as remarkable transformation in the state within three years.

Nze highlighted the administration’s interventions in critical sectors and said the governor’s developmental initiatives had continued to attract commendation from residents and stakeholders.

He said the organisation was committed to supporting developmental governance by ensuring that information about government programmes and projects reaches communities across the 17 local government areas of Enugu State.

Mbah: Award Belongs to Enugu People

Receiving the award, Governor Mbah dedicated the recognition to members of his administration and the people of Enugu State.

He said the honour was a reflection of the collective efforts of his team and the confidence reposed in his administration by the people.

The governor also pledged that the recognition would encourage his administration to do more in delivering projects and programmes that directly improve the lives of residents.

Mbah has repeatedly maintained that his administration’s focus is to build an Enugu that is economically competitive, socially secure and capable of providing greater opportunities for its citizens.

Nsukka Council Chairman Also Honoured

The ceremony also recognised outstanding performance at the local government level.

Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr. Jude Asogwa, emerged as the winner of the 2025/2026 Enugu State Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award.

The Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, emerged second in the poll.

The recognition of the local government chairmen formed part of the broader effort by Enugu Media Village to highlight leadership and development initiatives at the grassroots.

The awards ceremony therefore brought together recognition of both state-level and local government leadership, with organisers stressing the importance of governance that produces measurable impact at the community level.

Mbah’s Leadership Recognition Continues

The latest honour adds to a series of recognitions received by Governor Mbah since assuming office in 2023.

His administration has particularly attracted attention for its infrastructure programme, education reforms, water projects, security initiatives and efforts aimed at expanding economic opportunities across Enugu State.

The governor has consistently argued that public office should be measured by the ability to transform lives and communities rather than by political rhetoric.

The latest award is expected to further reinforce the administration’s message that its focus remains on delivering projects and policies with long-term impact.

With two years remaining in the current administration, the recognition also places greater expectations on the governor to sustain the pace of development and translate ongoing projects into lasting improvements for residents across Enugu State.
