President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to Ogun State and will instead travel to Jos, Plateau State, following recent deadly attacks in the region.
The Presidency said the President shelved his planned visit to Iperu, where he was expected to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport, opting instead to commiserate with victims of the violence.
According to officials, Tinubu’s visit to Plateau is aimed at expressing solidarity with the government and people of the state after gunmen attacks claimed several lives.
Following the Jos visit, the President is expected to proceed to Lagos to observe the Good Friday holiday, before rescheduling his Ogun trip for later in the week.
He is now slated to visit Ogun State on April 4 for the commissioning of the cargo airport and other projects designed to boost economic activities in the state.
The development underscores growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Nigeria, with the Presidency prioritizing crisis response and national stability over scheduled official engagements.
