Two soldiers from Ghana were critically injured after missiles struck the headquarters of a Ghanaian battalion serving under a United Nations peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon.
The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed that the base was hit by two missile attacks, leaving two soldiers severely wounded while another officer suffered trauma from the incident.
Authorities also disclosed that the battalion’s officers’ mess facility was completely destroyed by fire following the strike on the peacekeeping compound.
Although Ghanaian officials did not immediately identify the source of the missiles, the attack occurred amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
The escalation followed recent regional hostilities, including retaliatory missile launches after military actions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
The incident highlights the growing risks faced by international peacekeeping forces deployed in volatile conflict zones across the region.
