Several persons have been feared dead following an attack by unidentified gunmen in Anguwan Rukuba, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, has thrown the community into panic, with residents fleeing for safety amid sporadic gunfire.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers, who reportedly rode on a motorcycle, stormed the area and began shooting indiscriminately at youths gathered around a junction.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the scene as chaotic, saying, “The attackers just rode past and started shooting sporadically. People were running in different directions.”

Although the exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed, sources say several people were killed in the нападение, while others sustained injuries.

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report, but tension remains high in the area.

The latest attack adds to a series of violent incidents in Plateau State, a region that has witnessed recurring clashes and gunmen assaults in recent months.
