The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence nationwide on May 11, 2026.

According to the commission, the exercise will run until July 10, 2026, providing a final opportunity for eligible Nigerians to register ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC explained that the second phase of the registration, which ended on April 17, was suspended to allow for the clean-up of the voter register following a period of claims and objections.

The commission urged citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier phases, to take advantage of the exercise. It also noted that the window will accommodate requests for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and correction of personal data.

INEC further disclosed that the updated voter register will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026, in line with statutory requirements aimed at ensuring accuracy and credibility.

The voter registration exercise forms a critical part of preparations for the 2027 elections, with the electoral body assuring Nigerians of adequate arrangements for a smooth nationwide process.
