Afreximbank, through its investment arm FEDA, has launched a \$1 billion Africa Film Fund to transform the continent’s film and creative industry.

The initiative, part of the Creative Africa Nexus Programme (CANEX), aims to boost film production, global distribution, and attract long-term investments in Africa’s creative economy.

The fund seeks to address challenges in the industry, including limited infrastructure and financing, and to empower African filmmakers to create globally competitive content.

It also supports initiatives like the CANEX Shorts Awards to amplify diverse African voices and stories.

Leaders from Afreximbank and FEDA emphasized the fund’s role in fostering economic growth, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange. Hollywood stars like Viola Davis and Boris Kodjoe praised the initiative as a step toward a more inclusive global film industry.
