A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ukwa East Local Government Area, Chief Williams Nwanguma, has petitioned the party’s National Chairman, calling for disciplinary action against the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, over alleged anti-party activities.
Nwanguma accused Onyejeocha of openly endorsing the re-election bid of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, during a state road flag-off event in Umunneochi Local Government Area on February 28, 2025.
According to him, Onyejeocha, who hails from Umunneochi, urged traditional rulers and residents to support Otti’s second-term ambition, despite the governor not being a member of the APC.
Describing the minister’s remarks as a betrayal of the party, Nwanguma warned that such actions, if left unaddressed, could weaken the APC’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
He argued that her conduct undermines ongoing efforts by party leaders and stakeholders to strengthen the APC in Abia State and unseat the current administration.
The petitioner further noted that opposition members, including factions within the Labour Party, have been aligning with the APC to challenge the governor’s leadership.

He condemned Onyejeocha’s stance as detrimental to these efforts and called on the National Working Committee (NWC) to investigate the matter and impose appropriate sanctions if the petition is found to be valid.
Nwanguma urged the party leadership to take decisive action to prevent similar incidents, emphasizing the need to maintain party discipline as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
