Abia State House of Assembly has announced plans to summon the management of Aba Power Company and the State Commissioner for Power to address concerns over the recent increase in electricity tariffs across the state.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa made this known on Tuesday after the day’s plenary session, stressing that the Assembly will hold stakeholders accountable and demand explanations for the tariff hike.
He assured the public that the legislature is committed to finding solutions that will make electricity bills more affordable and improve power supply in Aba and other affected areas.
As part of its intervention, the House Committee on Power has been assigned to investigate the issue, while the Speaker urged the state government to step in swiftly, citing the financial strain the increased tariffs have placed on residents.

The Assembly reaffirmed its dedication to addressing the grievances of Aba residents, many of whom are struggling to cope with the unexpected rise in electricity costs.
