Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have been handed a challenging group for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after being drawn alongside former champions Spain, China, and tournament debutants New Caledonia in Group F.
The draw ceremony for the global tournament was held on Friday in Lodz, Poland, ahead of the competition scheduled to take place from September 5 to 27, 2026.
The Falconets, seven-time African champions, remain one of the most successful teams in the history of the competition despite never lifting the trophy. Nigeria have finished as runners-up twice and are also the only African side to have qualified for every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since its inception.
Spain are expected to provide the biggest test in the group, having established themselves as one of the strongest forces in women’s football at youth level. China also bring valuable experience and a strong pedigree from Asia, while New Caledonia will be hoping to make an impressive debut on the world stage.
Despite the difficult opposition, the Falconets will be confident of securing a place in the knockout stage as they continue their quest for a historic first world title.
The 12th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be hosted in four cities across Poland.
