Head coach of Abia Warriors, Imama Amapakabo, says his team is fully prepared for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and their maiden appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking with the club’s media team on Friday, the former Enugu Rangers title-winning manager noted that the team’s preparations have been thorough and aimed at building on last season’s historic achievement of qualifying for continental football for the first time.
“It will be funny if at this time, just a few days to the start of the league, we say we’re not prepared. We’ve done our best in all possible ways and now we’re focused on building on last season’s success,” Imama said.
The Warriors will open their NPFL campaign at the Umuahia Township Stadium against Kano Pillars on Sunday, and Imama believes a strong start will set the tone for the season.

“Every game is different, and like us, our opponents want to win. It’s a long season filled with tough games, but we want to start well,” he added.
After their league opener, Abia Warriors will shift attention to the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will face Malian side Djoliba in their debut continental fixture.
