Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Slovenia international Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £73.7 million.
The 22-year-old forward has penned a five-year contract, with the agreement including a guaranteed payment of £66.3m and the rest in performance-related add-ons. Sesko becomes United’s third major attacking addition this summer, following Matheus Cunha (£62.5m) and Bryan Mbeumo (£65m plus £6m in add-ons).
Speaking after the announcement, Sesko said he was drawn not only by United’s rich history but also by the club’s future ambitions.
“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future,” Sesko said. “From the moment I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment here. It’s clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil my ambitions.”
He added that he was eager to work under manager Ruben Amorim and build strong connections with his new teammates in pursuit of “the biggest trophies.”
Sesko, who spent the last two seasons at Leipzig after joining from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023, was also on Newcastle United’s radar. However, he opted for Old Trafford over St. James’ Park, despite the Magpies’ fifth-place Premier League finish last season and their qualification for the Champions League.

For United, who endured a difficult 2024/25 campaign finishing 15th in the league, Sesko’s arrival signals another statement of intent as they look to rebuild under Amorim and return to the top of English football.
